Feeding Rates
HYGAIN® POWATORQUE® combines the advantages and convenience of a premixed feed with conventional home mixing ensuring that all micro nutrients are met in a 2kg dose whilst providing the flexibility to manage cereal grain intake. POWATORQUE® is suitable for performance horses in pre-training, training and competition and has been formulated to be fed in conjunction with cereal grains such as oats, HYGAIN® MICRBARLEY® and/or HYGAIN® MICRMAIZE®.
HYGAIN® POWATORQUE® should be introduced to your horse’s diet gradually. Feeding amount may be influenced by age, breed, exercise intensity, desired body condition and climate.
Horses in training and receiving regular exercise on average will require 2kg of HYGAIN® POWATORQUE® together with 4-7kg of grain and a minimum of 1% of body weight as fibre such as quality hay and/or chaff. Care should be taken to match feed intake to workload. Reduce feed intake on rest days. If horses gain weight and/or training regime is interrupted reduce the amount of cereal grain in the diet and continue feeding HYGAIN® POWATORQUE® at the desired level.
During periods of heavy sweat loss additional supplementation with an electrolyte such as HYGAIN® REGAIN® is recommended.
